Bodega Bay Fire Protection District — The design and site-selection for this 19.6 kW system was a major consideration due to the station’s highly visible location on Highway 1--an officially designated scenic corridor. The design needed to satisfy the BBFPD, its neighbors and the California Coastal Commission. The resulting system design features a low-profile, ground-mounted array that follows the natural contour of the hillside. “Board of Directors sees solar energy as one of the few investments our district can make that will continue to give returns to the community long after the current Board and employees are gone,” says Cathy Beck, President of the Bodega Bay Fire Protection District.

Woodland Star School — This 30 kW installation on a shade structure was installed as part of the Solar Schools Project. Solar Works secured and financed a $6.40 per watt rebate, and worked with the school for over two years to complete the project, overcoming many challenges. Students now use the system as part of their energy curriculum.
