Solar Consultant

The Solar Consultant develops relationships with prospective customers, leading them through the sales process and ensuring high levels of satisfaction. This staff member is an integral part of the business and reports to the Sales and Marketing Manager.

Responsibilities:

Sales

  • Be an integral part of the Sales Team, and meet individual and company-wide goals
  • Convert leads to signed contracts
  • Review proposals and follow up with customers, close sales and execute contracts
  • Maintain up-to-date residential solar expertise, g., products, utility rates, incentive programs, trends
  • Develop and nurture relationships with prospective and existing customers, serve as primary point of contact throughout the sales process
  • Respond to new inquiries, gather information from and pre-qualify prospective customers
  • Perform site visits: take photos, measure roofs, and assess existing electrical systems
  • Collect energy consumption data from utilities and customers to determine preliminary system sizes
  • Use Excel-based estimating tool to generate accurate and detailed proposals
  • Hand off signed contracts to the Operations team, with detailed, thorough project information
  • Conduct post-installation customer Orientations
  • After project completion, send Customer Satisfaction Surveys and Thank You cards
  • Update and maintain Customer Tracking workbook throughout the sales process
  • Assist with marketing projects as needed.

Other

  • Communicate effectively and diplomatically with the public, customers, and colleagues
  • Write and submit Daily Activity Report each workday
  • Keep a clean, organized, and welcoming office space
  • Perform assigned tasks willingly and on time
  • Comply with all Solar Works policies, procedures and legal requirements
  • Follow all work systems and procedures, and participate in their development and refinement

 

Qualifications:

  • Outstanding communication and customer relations skills, positive and respectful attitude and upbeat phone presence
  • Expertise in office administration, coordination, and organization
  • Demonstrated ability to perform and manage a variety of support-related tasks
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Google, and Adobe Suites
  • Solar or construction experience is a plus but not required. Training will be provided.
  • Impeccable work ethic — reliable, accountable, detail-oriented, personable, committed to excellence
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a professional, service-oriented environment
  • Willingness and ability to work with grace and calm demeanor while handling multiple projects
  • Passion for renewable energy, healthy environment, resilient local community and economy
  • Ability to reach, bend, lift up to 20 lbs, and use a computer for several hours at a time
  • Responsible, safe driver with clean DMV record

 

Compensation: competitive, commensurate with experience

Benefits: holidays, vacation, and sick leave; health plan (after 90-day introductory period for FT, permanent employees)
