What is a B Corp?

A benefit corporation or “B-Corp” is a corporate entity that includes positive impact on society and the environment in addition to profit as its legally defined goals.

Today there are more than 2,300 Certified B Corporations across more than 130 industries and 50 countries, unified by one common goal: to redefine success in business. Any company can measure and manage social and environmental performance at http://bimpactassessment.net.

Solar Works is the first (and only) solar B Corp in our region, the second solar B Corp in California, and incorporated as the first Benefit Corporation in California. In both 2016 and 2017, we received the further distinction of being honored as “Best for the Environment” by scoring in the top 10% in the B Impact Assessment. This award validates the work we’ve been doing on behalf of a healthy environment for over 30 years, and is a meaningful recognition of our business model and long-time activism.
