Advanced Technician & Special Projects Coordinator
The Advanced Technician & Special Projects Coordinator has four general areas of responsibility:
1). Warranty service and resolution of system performance issues
2). All aspects of inverter monitoring systems
3). Non grid-tied projects, e.g.: solar water heating, off-grid applications, and non-PV auxiliary projects
4). IT and office technology
Qualifications and Credentials:
All of the following are preferred. At least two are required for consideration:
- C-10, C-46, or B License in good standing
- Bachelors or graduate degree in physics, chemistry mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, or equivalent science-based discipline from an accredited university
- NABCEP PV Installer Certification
- NABCEP Solar Thermal Installer Certification
Work Experience and Skills:
At least two years employment with an established solar integrator
- At least two years advanced hands-on installation experience in all aspects of the PV installation process
- Lead installer of at least three installations of large (50kW or more) commercial inverters
- Monitoring systems expertise: installation, configuring, troubleshooting, service, repair and warranty experience with inverters from all major manufacturers
- Advanced hands-on solar design and installation training from SunPower University, Solar Energy International, Solar Living Institute or equivalent training provider
Additional Preferred Experience and Skills:
- SWH installation training and experience (batch, drainback and draindown systems; sweat copper pipe; work with PEX tubing; set up control systems; start up new installations)
- Off-grid system design and installation experience
- Building performance training from PG&E or other equivalent program
- Supervision and management experience
- Expertise with hydraulic conduit benders and other commercial electrical installation equipment
- Advanced Excel spreadsheet skills
Pay Range: $28-34/hour, commensurate with experience, productivity and performance. Starts at $28/hour, re-evaluated after completion of 90-day introductory period and performance review.

Solar Installer I (Entry Level)
The entry level Solar Installer I is primarily responsible for setting up equipment, tools and materials on the job, mounting solar panels on roofs and ground structures, assisting with running conduit and pulling wires, cleaning up the job site and returning tools to proper kits. The Installer I works under the direction of the Crew Leader and is accountable to the Installation Manager.
Qualifications and Experience

At least 2 years experience in the building trades

EMT conduit bending and mounting and wire pulling experience

Ability to read plans and install equipment according to specifications

Working knowledge of building construction

Strict adherence to safety standards

Responsible, reliable, respectful, cooperative, problem solver, quick learner, team player

Ability to lift at least 50 pounds overhead

Energetic, with stamina in the field

Skilled in troubleshooting PV issues

Knowledge and experience in proper and safe use of tools

Roof-competence; not afraid of heights or steep pitches

Ability to solve on-the-job problems safely, effectively, creatively

Willingness to take directions accurately and pleasantly

Ability and willingness to learn quickly, retain and apply new information

The following qualifications must be met to advance to Installer II status:

Minimum 6 months Installer I experience

Completion of an accredited solar installer training program approved by Solar Works

Successful completion of SunPower University on-line training modules

Successful completion (passing scores, both tests) of SunPower Design and Installation training programs

Completion of inverter manufacturers training program

Some qualifications and experience may be replaced by NABCEP advanced certification
Compensation and Benefits
$15- $18/hour, holidays, vacation and sick leave, on-going training after 90-day introductory period.
